Deep Ecology → Global Egalitarianism
Core idea:
Deep Ecology extends the idea of equality from human beings to the entire biosphere. Instead of treating nature primarily as a collection of resources for human use, it argues that living beings and the ecological world possess intrinsic value. Arne Næss famously called this “biospheric egalitarianism.”
Connection to Global Egalitarianism:
Global Egalitarianism: Human beings should not be divided into superior and inferior classes of people.
Deep Ecology: Humans should not assume that humanity is inherently superior to the rest of the living world.
It therefore adds an ecological dimension to egalitarianism: human equality exists within a larger community of life.
